- 2a system of communication used by a particular country or community: the book was translated into twenty-five languages
From this I can saw is the way we comunicate and show who and what we are as a person, a person that has an identity and part of that identity is the way we speak. Befrore it was drawing now its words but what kind of words? The same ones they used in the 18th century? ... No, and why not? Because language had evolved and progressed throughout the years, new words are invented some words are being forgotten, some have changed meaning, some their purpose, and now even spoken language is different because now we use it less than before, now we use the written language.. is there a difference or importance? Why do we do it? What does language do for a human being, everything. Maybe without language there would be no knowledge because how do you comunicate what you know to the other if there's no common way to do so? or if there were, but they were completely different, would that limit the understanding of that discovery? Does language limit knowledge? I belive it might limit it because no matter how you try there are word in a language that don't have the same meaning or the word simply does not exist like the word "estrenar" in spanish, if you try to find a word in english there's none and that limits the knowledge of what the person wants to transmit. So maybe we can say from this that if the word doesn't exist in your language it can be said that it doesn't exist anywhere. And as easy it is to discredit something because you don't know the word, it can be done by standardizing words like mp3 or dvd.
Language has changed so much that even now every language uses words from another language, we use words that mean something gigantic and use in a sentence to explain a cup, this has happend because words become mainstreem and we don't realize what we are doing to language and our knowledge.
